Smart, Safe, and Supportive: Using Microsoft Copilot for Family Learning and Online Media Awareness
Location: TBA
The Clayton County Office of Digital Equity has partnered with Clayton State University Continuing and Professional Education (CaPE) and Clayton County Public Schools (CCPS) to bring you an exciting new learning experience. This engaging, hands-on session helps parents, caregivers, and household members use Microsoft Copilot to support school-aged children with homework routines, reading practice, project planning, study guides, and family communication. Participants will learn prompt-writing basics by clearly sharing the task, grade level, interests, desired format, and success criteria to generate useful, age-appropriate support. The session also builds media literacy by helping families recognize signs of misinformation, altered images and videos, scams, and realistic-looking deep fakes—and use Copilot to ask thoughtful follow-up questions and compare information with credible sources. Participants will leave with practical family prompts, strategies for protecting private information and maintaining a healthy digital footprint, and clear guidance for using AI to strengthen learning rather than complete a student’s work.
